Men's Swimming & Diving Trio Earns Praise

RALEIGH, N.C. – A trio of NC State men’s swimming and diving student-athletes were recently honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Mason McGee, Austin Hampton and Scott Blackwelder were all tabbed as honorable mention scholar All-American’s for the 2008-09 school year.
McGee, a current senior, hold school records in both the 200 freestyle (1:35.96) and the 500 freestyle (4:20.60). Hampton, a senior last year, owns four school diving records including the 1-meter (six dives), 3-meter (11-dives), 3-meter (six-dives) and platform dives (six-dives). Blackwelder, also a senior last year, posted the three best scores on the team a season ago in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dives.
To earn the recognition a student-athlete must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5. Swimmers must also hit an NCAA “B” cut, while divers must compete at an NCAA Zone or regional meet.Braden Holloway Reflects on Olympic Experience
