Men's Golf Summer Update

RALEIGH, N.C. – The excitement level around the NC State men’s golf team continues to climb this summer, as many members of team are enjoying successful summer action.
Rising junior Matt Hill continues his strong play, which has included playing in three PGA Tour events, as Hill is currently in the lead after first round action at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship taking place in Quebec this week. Hill fired a bogey-free 7-under-par 65 yesterday, and was up two strokes at the start of the second round. For more information and live scoring, click here.
Last week, Hill also helped Canada win the 2009 Four Nations Cup, a match play competition that took place in Toronto and pitted Canada against Australia, Japan and New Zealand. On the final day of competition, Hill defeated Matt Jager of Australia 6&5 in the afternoon to secure the win. For a complete recap, click here.
More good news came from Canada for the Wolfpack, incoming freshman Mitchell Sutton successfully defended the Canadian Junior Boys title last week as well. Sutton fired a final round 1-under par 72 to finish at 6-under par and edge out third round leader Justin Shin. The win marks Sutton’s second in as many years at the Canadian Juniors. Sutton also claimed the Golf Association of Ontario’s (GAO’s) Investors Group Junior Boys' Match Play Championship on July 24th.For a complete recap, click here.
Also, rising season and another Canadian Brad Revell qualified for the US Amateur coming up at Southern Hills in Tulsa. The field features the top 312 amateurs and will take place August 24-30. For more information on that event, click here.
Back in June, rising sophomore Mark McMillan shot a five-under (67) in the final round, and claimed the 2009 N.C. Amateur championship held at the Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, N.C. For a recap, click here.
