Track & Field Trio Heads to NCAA Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. - A trio of women's track and field athletes will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. as the 2009 season comes to a close June 9-13. Angelina Blackmon (Sr., Rock Hill, S.C.), Lawanda Henry (Fr., Dunn, N.C.) and Brittany Tinsley (Jr., Russells Point, Ohio) will make the trip to compete for the Wolfpack.
Blackmon will run in the 800m event starting on Wednesday, June 10th in the first round. If she advances, the semifinals are on Thursday with the finals being held on Saturday afternoon.
Blackmon ranks 14th nationally in the 800m with a school-record 2:05.78 and earned All-ACC honors in the event with a third place finish at the ACC Championships.
Henry is the school record holder in four throwing events, including the outdoor shot put, the event that she will compete in at the NCAA Championships. She will compete in the qualifying rounds on Wednesday with the finals being held on Thursday.
Henry's mark this season of 52'10.00" is the 18th-best mark in school history. She was the ACC Outdoor Champion in the event and was third at the NCAA Regionals.
Tinsley is 21st-nationally in the 10,000m run and will compete on Thursday evening in the event. Tinsley was second at the ACC Outdoor Championships to earn All-ACC honors in the event.
