Men's Swimming Adds Roycroft

RALEIGH, N.C. NC State head swimming and diving coach Brooks Teal announced the signing of Caison Roycroft on Wednesday, May 20. A native of Concord, N.C., Roycroft is a current senior at Northwest Cabarrus High where he stands as the first swimmer in school history to earn a scholarship at a Division I university. He also competes with the SwimMAC program under the direction of Thad Schultz.
“Caison comes to NC State with a great swimming background from his prep career,” said Teal. “Earlier in his career he swam for Frankie Bell, a coaching legend in North Carolina. Right now he is swimming with the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club, currently one of the top programs in the country. He has a lot of untapped potential and we are looking forward to him bringing his talents to NC State.”
Roycroft will continue his family tradition of enrolling in Raleigh at NC State. Specializing in freestyle events, Roycroft just enjoyed a breakout season that saw significant improvements in each of his swims. A four-time high school state finalist, his career bests include a 47.17 in the 100 freestyle and a 1:41.31 in the 200 freestyle. He also holds the Cabarrus County record in the 200 freestyle.
In addition to individual events, Roycroft has lengthy experience in relay races. He has been a key contributor in both the 200-medley relay (1:42.92) and the 400 freestyle relay (3.22.79).
With aspirations of becoming a dentist, Roycroft chose NC State over East Carolina and UNC Wilmington.
Roycroft joins Brandon Kingston, Hudson Rains, Kevin Vallario and Matt Voell, who all inked with the Wolfpack this past December.
