Women's Tennis Heads to ACC Tournament

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State women’s tennis team will compete against No. 17 Florida State in the ACC Tournament on Thursday, April 16, at 12 p.m in Cary, N.C. The Cary Tennis Center is hosting the tournament, which goes through the 19th. The winner of the contest will face No. 7 Georgia Tech on the 17th at 12 p.m. For full information, including a complete bracket, visit the 2009 ACC Men’s & Women’s Tennis Championships Central page.
The Pack, who enters the tournament as a 12 seed, is currently 4-17 (1-10 ACC) on the season, and the Seminoles are 14-6 (6-4 ACC). Florida State defeated the Pack earlier this season, 6-1.
Sophomore Lenka Hojckova is currently ranked 94th this season, and has a 10-11 (3-8 ACC) record in singles play this season. Junior Berkeley Brock is also ranked in singles play at 118th, and is 10-11 overall this season and holds a 5-6 ACC record. Brock and Hojckova are also in the doubles rankings at 54th in the nation.
The Seminoles take on the Pack with three ranked singles players. Noemi Scharle, who s 42nd in the nation, holds a 12-4 singles record, with 11 of those wins coming at the No. 2 singles spot. Katie Rybakova is 9-11 this season and is ranked 58th in the nation according to the ITA. Ranked at the 103rd singles spot is Federica Suess who is 13-7 and has played most of the season at No. 4 singles.
