Three Men's Golfers in Top-20 at Hootie

AWENDAW, S.C. NC State used a 10 shot improvement in today’s second round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational, and the Pack currently has three players in the top-20. The Pack shot a five-under (279) on the day, but slipped to fifth place and is at even-par (568) through two rounds.
Augusta State leads the field at 10-under (558), and had the top team round of the day at 12-under.
Sophomore Matt Hill jumped to the top of NC State’s leaderboard, as he is currently in ninth place overall at one-under (141). After shooting a one-over in yesterday’s first round, Hill fired a two-under (69) today. Hill holed four birdies on the day, including three on the back-nine to finish strong with a two-under on the final nine holes.
Senior Andrew Byrd had the Pack’s biggest improvement from yesterday’s first round by six strokes. Byrd had the Pack’s top score of the day, shooting a three-under (68). He shot a team-high five birdies, and fired three on the back-nine to score a three-under on the final nine holes.
Junior Brad Revell also reversed his score from yesterday, as he shot a two-under (69) in the second round compared to his two-over (73) yesterday. Revell had three birdies on the day, and only had one hole over par for the round.
Sophomore Brandon Detweiler shot a two-over (73) today, and is at one-over (143) through two rounds. Senior Darren Blair had a three-over (74) today, and is at seven-over (149) overall.
Byrd and Revell are currently tied for 16th among the field, as each are at even-par (142).
The third and final round will be played tomorrow.
