Men's Golf Earns National Rankings

RALEIGH, N.C. Fresh off a second place finish at the 2009 General Hackler Championship, the NC State men’s golf team has moved into the top-25 in two polls released this week.
The Pack has jumped up to #13 on Golfstat.com, with an adjusted score average of 72.80 and a 9-5 record against teams ranked in the top-25. The Pack also checks in at No. 24 this week in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll.
Going back to the fall season, the Pack as accumulated a record of 76-16 in its first six tournaments of the 2008-098 school year. NC State has finished in second place in three of those first six tournaments, and the Pack has not finished lower than sixth place.
NC State has also claimed the top individual spot in three of those tournaments. Sophomore Matt Hill won the Hartford Hawks Invitational in the fall and also the General Hackler Championship this past week, while senior Darren Blair won the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate by five strokes in the final fall tournament.
The Pack will next be in action March 20-22, when NC State will compete in the Chris Schenkel E-Z-Go at Statesboro, Ga.
Also coming up for NC State is its own tournament, as the Pack plays host to the River Landing Intercollegiate April 10-11 in Wallace, N.C. at the River Landing Country Club.
