Divers Head to NCAA Zones

RALEIGH, N.C. Four NC State divers will head to Knoxville, Tenn., for the NCAA Diving Zones, March 13-15, at the Allen Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. Kristin Davies from the women’s squad will make the trip along men’s divers Austin Hampton, Alex Dambly and Scott Blackwelder.

Davies will compete in the 3-meter dive on Friday, March 13, before taking part in the platform dive on Sunday, March 15. All three men’s divers will compete in the 1-meter dive on Friday, as well as the 3-meter dive on Saturday, March 14. Hampton will also compete in Sunday’s platform dive.
Davies, a senior out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is currently the school record holder in the platform dive after posting a 314.20 for All-ACC honors at the recent conference championships. Last season she took 13th-overall in the platform dive at the NCAA Championships, grabbing honorable mention All-America honors for her performance.
Hailing from St. Petersburg, Fla., Hampton owns all but one men’s diving school record. This year the senior set new marks in the 3-meter (6 dives, 393.60) and platform (6 dives, 315.95) dives, while his 2006 scores in both the 1-meter (6 dives, 377.60) and 3-meter (11 dives, 603.00) remain to this day.
Dambly, a senior from Olney, Md., will be making his second consecutive appearance at the diving zones. He posted the second best marks on the Wolfpack roster this season in the 1-meter (314.40), 3-meter (357.95) and platform (262.80) dives.
Blackwelder, from Asheville, N.C., has enjoyed a solid senior season thus far, posting the third best marks on the team in both the 1-meter (272.45) and 3-meter (333.83) dives.
