RALEIGH, N.C. The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has tabbed both the NC State men and women’s swimming and diving squads as Academic All-American teams for the fall 2008 semester. Head coach Brooks Teal made the announcement on Tuesday, March 10.
“I’m extremely proud of the commitment to academics that our swimmers and divers have shown,” said Teal. “We talk to them all the time about finding the right balance, keeping their priorities in order and focusing on the classroom. This shows that the message is getting through.
“This honor is a perfect example of the high-quality student-athletes that we have in our program,” said Teal. “Our swimmers and divers are just as committed to success in the classroom as they are to success in the pool, and that speaks volumes about their character.”
To be recognized as an Academic All-American squad by the CSCAA a team must maintain an average GPA over 3.0.
