W. Track & Field Signs Top Jumper

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's track and field signed Karimah Shepherd to a national letter of intent on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Shepherd, from Grassfield High School in Chesapeake, Va., has the top triple and long jump marks nationally in 2009.
Shepherd jumped an impressive 41'02.50", the sixth-best all-time Virginia state mark and her fourth mark of the season in the triple jump over 40 feet. She hit that distance on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va. for the Southeastern District Quad Meet.
Shepherd also leads the nation this year in the long jump, with a distance of 20'00.50". Shepherd was interviewed recently by dyestat.com about her commitment to NC State and her success in the jumping events.
