Bethea Earns All-ACC Honors; Third in Pentathlon

BLACKSBURG, Va. - NC State's Mattie Bethea earned All-ACC honors at the 2009 ACC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday. Bethea finished third in the pentathlon with 3,934 points, an NCAA Indoor Provisional Qualifying mark.
Bethea, a senior from Winston-Salem, N.C., had a high jump mark of 5'10.75", also good for an NCAA Indoor Provisional Qualifying mark, and an ACC meet record for the pentathlon.
It was a career-high in the pentathlon for Bethea, and her high jump mark was the second-best in her career, as well. The championships continue for the men and women through Saturday.
