M. Track & Field Finishes Fourth at Tar Heel

Jason Jones won the shot put and the weight throw, and A'Tolani Akinkuotu finished second in the 60m with an NCAA indoor provisional mark. NC State scored 55 points in the Tar Heel Invitational meet on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Akinkuotu posted his first NCAA indoor provisional mark of the season with a 6.74 to place second in the 60m run. He posted the same time earlier to take first in the prelims in passing the provisional mark twice. Akinkuotu also finished eighth in the 200m.
Jones won both the shot put (55'09.00") and the weight throw (54'08.00") to lead NC State to its team total of 55.
Lamont Savage had a solid showing in the jumps, finishing second in the long jump with a mark of 23'10.25". He also finished fifth in the triple jump 44'08.00".
Other top-6 finishers were Brandon Bias finished fifth in the 60m hurdles with an 8.55. Andrew North finished sixth in the mile with with a 4:25.31. Travis Weston was sixth in the triple jump and Adam Gray was second in the weight throw and sixth in the shot put.
Next up for the Pack will be the two-day VT Hokie Invitational on Jan. 16-17.
