Men's Golf Finishes Second in First Tournament

CAMBRIDGE, MD. Playing in the first fall tournament of the year, the NC State men’s golf team finished in second place at the Maryland Intercollegiate which was played at the at the River Marsh Golf Course at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort in Cambridge, Md. Because of Tropical Storm Hanna, the event was shortened to 36 holes, which were played in two rounds Sunday.
The Wolfpack finished the 18-team tournament in second place, shooting a total of 564 (280-284) and finished at four-under par. NC State was one of only three schools to finish under par, and the Pack finished higher than all the other ACC teams in the field, North Carolina (fourth place), Maryland (fifth), and Virginia (seventh).
Sophomore Matt Hill led the way for the Pack with his fourth place finish (-4). Hill was under par in both of his rounds, shooting a 69 in the first round then a 68 in the second round.
Senior Darren Blair had the Pack’s top first round score, as he shot a 67 in Sunday’s early round. Blair finished the tournament seventh overall at three-under par.
Junior Brad Revell was under par with his first round 70, and finished 13th overall at even-par.
