Men's Golf to Open Season This Weekend

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men’s golf team will open its 2008-09 season this weekend, when the Pack travels to Cambridge, Md., to compete in the University of Maryland Intercollegiate at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort.
The Pack will be taking: senior Darren Blair, juniors Kent Copeland and Brad Revell, and sophomores Brandon Detweiler and Matt Hill.
The 18-team field includes six teams that earned invitations to the NCAA Tournament a year ago and four members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The tournament will be played at the River Marsh Golf Club, which is part of the resort. The par-71, 6,801-yard layout is located on the banks of the Choptank River, near where the river empties into the Chesapeake Bay.
There will be no live stats for this two-day event.
PARTICIPATING TEAMS - Arkansas, California (Pa.), College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, Georgetown, Kent State, Maryland, Navy, NC State, Old Dominion, Rhode Island, St. John's, North Carolina, UNC Greensboro, Texas State, Virginia, VCU, William & Mary.
SCHEDULE - Friday, Sept. 5: 18-hole practice round; Saturday, Sept. 6: 36 holes; Sunday, Sept. 7: 18-hole final round.
COURSE - River Marsh Golf Club, par-71, 6,801 yards (Architect: Keith Foster, 2002).
