Men's Tennis Completes Day One of UNCW Invite

WILMINGTON, N.C. Redshirt freshman Eric Turner and freshman Akash Gujarati of the NC State men's tennis team completed play on the first day of the UNCW Collegiate Invitational. Gujarati competed in both doubles and singles matches, and Turner competed in just singles matches on Friday, Sept. 12 in Wilmington, N.C. Competition will continue throughout the day on Saturday, Sept. 13 before finals on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Gujarati joined with David Masciorini of ECU to take on Anton Nikolov and Michael Zurawel of UNC Wilmington. The pair defeated the UNCW duo, 8-6, but then fell in their next doubles match to Carlin Murray and Cody Stauffer (Elon), 9-7.Gujarati and Masciorini will play against Kevin Beard and Clark Howell of Elon who also lost in the second round of doubles competition. The match will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m.
In singles play, Turner fell to Ryan Ybarra of UNC Wilmington, 6-2, 6-3. He will face Murray on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. Gujarati won his first match of the fall season over Kinshuk Sharma (UNCW), 6-3, 6-7, 10-5, and will take on Henrik Skalmerud (ECU) on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.
