Baseball Opens Tourney Play Wednesday Vs. Ga Tech

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. NC State opens play in the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Tournament on Wednesday, May 21, with a 10 a.m. game vs. Georgia Tech.
The Wolfpack, the No. 4 seed in the round-robin tournament, is bracketed with No. 1 seed Miami, No. 5 seed Georgia Tech and No. 8 seed Clemson. The other bracket is comprised of No. 2 seed Florida State, No. 3 seed North Carolina, No. 6 seed Virginia and No. 7 seed Wake Forest. Each team will play the other three teams in their respective bracket, and the team with the best record in each bracket will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 25, in a one-game championship game.
The Wolfpack, 37-18 overall, finshed with an 18-11 mark in the ACC, setting a school record for conference victories. The fourth-place finish is NC State’s highest regular-season finish since the Pack finished third in 2003. Georgia Tech finished at 38-17 overall, 16-14 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets won two of three games this past weekend at Virginia to secure the No. 5 seed.
NC State’s second game will be on Thursday, May 22, vs. Clemson, an 8 p.m. game. The Wolfpack will have Friday, May 23, off, then play Miami on Saturday, May 24, at 1 p.m.
