Men's Golf Falters in Second Round at NCAA Regionals

Chattanooga, Tenn. After starting the day in sixth place at the NCAA East Regional Championships, the Pack struggled on the course in the second round today and slid down to a tie for 19th place. NC State shot the second-worse round at the regional in Friday’s second round, firing a 12-over (296), 17 shots worse than yesterday’s first round. NC State is currently at seven-over (279-296) through the first two rounds.
With the top-10 teams advancing to the NCAA Championships, NC State is 11 shots out of 10th place currently.
Darren Blair carded the Pack’s top score in the second round, as he finished with a two-over (73) thanks to three birdies. Blair is also leading NC State through two rounds, as he is at one-over in 50th place.
Brad Revell tied Blair with the Pack’s low round of the day, a two-over (73). Revell holed a pair of birdies, and is at six-over through two rounds.
A pair of Pack golfers recorded an eagle on the par-four No. 11 on Friday. Matt Hill also holed three birdies and finished the day three-over (74), and is tied with Blair for the team lead through two rounds at one-over.
Andrew Byrd also eagled the No. 11, and had two birdies to shoot a five-over (76) on the day, and Byrd is at seven-over through two rounds.
After leading the Pack with a four-under in the first round, Kent Copeland struggled today and shot a seven-over (78). Copeland started in seventh place, but slipped to 71st and is at three-over through two rounds.
The final round will take place tomorrow.
