Men's Golf in Sixth Place at NCAA Regionals

Chattanooga, Tenn. The NC State men’s golf team got off to a good start at the NCAA East Regional Championship today, as the Pack currently sits in sixth place after first round action. NC State finished the round at five-under par, shooting a 279 at the Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. The top-10 teams will advance to the NCAA Championships, and NC State is currently three strokes ahead of the 11th place team.
The Pack finished first round action with three golfers under par.
Kent Copeland was the Pack’s top finisher in the first round, as Copeland shot a four-under 67 in Thursday’s first round and is tied for seventh place just two strokes off the pace. Copeland’s round featured a team-high eight birdies, including three on the first four holes on the day.
Freshman Matt Hill carded a round of 69 on the day, which puts him at two-under and in 21st place. Hill shot a two-under on the back nine, and finished the day with five birdies.
Darren Blair also was under par in the first round, as he shot a one-under 70 on the day. Blair’s day included three birdies, and he sits in 33rd place overall.
Rounding out first round action for the Pack, Andrew Byrd is at two-over (73) and Brad Revell is at four-over (75). Byrd also holed three birdies on the day, while Revell finished with a pair.
The Pack’s round two will begin tomorrow morning at 8:05 a.m. on Hole No. 1. Tee times for Saturday’s final round will be determined after the second round is complete.
