Allbritten, Smith Pick Up NFCA All-Region Honors

RALEIGH, N.C. Freshman Alyssa Allbritten and senior Shanna Smith both picked up NFCA Southeast All-Region Team honors on Wednesday, May 14. Smith was tabbed as the first-team shortstop, while Allbritten was selected as the second-team catcher.
A two-time first-team All-ACC performer, Smith is the fourth Wolfpacker to be named first-team all-region. This year Smith led the conference in walks (33), tied for first in home runs (12), finished second in total bases (105) and runs scored (47) and placed 10th in hits (57). Hailing from nearby Albemarle, N.C., she tied a single-season school record with 26 stolen bags, while batting .322 with a .593 slugging percentage.
Allbritten, named second-team All-ACC, was tabbed as State’s first conference freshman of the year. She is the fifth red and white player to be named second-team all-region. A native of Palm Harbor, Fla., Allbritten led the league in doubles (19), total bases (106) and slugging percentage (.658), while placing first on the team in batting average (.348) and RBIs (34).
