Men's Golf Takes Third at Cavalier Classic

Charlottesville, Va. The NC State men’s golf team finished third out of 21 teams at the Cavalier Classic played at Birdwood Golf Course this weekend. The Wolfpack finished at eight-over (584) in the two-round event and had three golfers finish in the top-20, and NC State’s Brad Revell was the Pack’s top finisher as he tied for second.
Revell finished the two-round event at four-under (140), after shooting matching scores of 70 in both rounds. Revell finished just one stroke out of the individual title, and his 11 birdies were tied for the most among all players for the weekend.
Kent Copeland finished in a tie for 18th place, and he was at three-over (147) for the tournament. Copeland’s 29 pars in the two-rounds was the most among all individuals.
Matt Hill also brought home a top-20 finish, as he was one shot behind Copeland at four-over par (148).
Rounding out the scoring for NC State was Darren Blair at five-over (149), and Andrew Byrd was at seven-over (151).
Virginia won the team title finishing at one-under, and Jenrik Norlander of Augusta State was the individual champion at five-under.
With the Pack’s third place finish, NC State is now over the .500 mark for the season, and eligible to be picked for the NCAA Regionals. The three NCAA Regional sites will be filled out May 5.
