Men's Golf Moves Into Third Place at ACCs

New London, N.C. The NC State men’s golf team improved three strokes in today’s second round, and has moved into third place at the ACC Championships being played at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. On Saturday, the Pack shot a seven-under (281) and is currently at 11-under (284-281) through two rounds, with all five Wolfpack golfers even-par or better for the tournament.
On Saturday, juniors Darren Blair and Andrew Byrd both came back from first round scores of over-par, to each shoot a three-under (69) in the second round. Blair posted four birdies, and holed an eagle on the par-five No. 18. Blair is currently tied for the team lead at two-under for the tournament. Byrd shot a team-high six birdies on Saturday, and carded a score of three-under on the back nine to improve to one-under through two rounds.
Kent Copeland also was under par in the second round, as he shot a one-under (71) and sits at even-par for the tournament. Copeland had five birdies on Saturday, with four coming on the first six holes.
After shooting one-under yesterday, Brad Revell sank two birdies and was even-par (72) on Saturday.
After posting the best round of the tournament in Friday’s round at five-under, freshman Matt Hill finished at three-over (75) in the second round is currently tied with Blair at two-under for the team lead at the tournament.
Duke holds the team lead at 19-under, while Webb Simpson of Wake Forest holds the individual lead at eight-under.
NC State will be in the final group of three to tee off tomorrow morning at 11:10 a.m.
