Hill Leads at ACC Championships, Men's Golf Fourth

New London, N.C. Freshman Matt Hill leads the competition after the first round at the 2008 ACC Men’s Golf Championships being played this weekend at the par 72, 7,102-yard Old North State Club in New London, N.C. Hill shot a five-under (68) on the day, and is up one stroke on three other competitors heading into Saturday’s second round.
The Wolfpack as a team finish the first day at four-under (284) and tied for fourth place with three other schools, all five strokes behind first round co-leaders Duke and Florida State (nine-under, 279).
Hill had a team high seven birdies in the round, including one each on the first and last hole of the day. Hill was at two-under on the front nine, and improved one stroke for three-under on the back nine.
Sophomore Brad Revell was also under par for the round, as he finished at one-under (71) and is tied for 15th place. Revell’s day featured three birdies, and he finished strong as he was two-under on the back nine.
A pair of Wolfpack golfers finished the first round at one-over (73). Junior Darren Blair had five birdies on the day, including three on the first four holes. Sophomore Kent Copeland used three birdes and is tied with Blair.
Junior Andrew Byrd holed two birdies on the day, and shot a two-over (74).
Second round action begins tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m., and the third and final round will be played on Sunday/
