Men's Golf Surges Into First Place; Copeland Second Individually

Wallace, N.C. NC State shot a two-under (286) in the second round of the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C., on Saturday, as the Wolfpack moved up into a tie for first place entering tomorrow’s final round. The Pack was the only team under par in Saturday’s second round, and currently sits at two-under (574) through two rounds, moving from fourth to first.
Duke is tied with the Pack at two-under (574), while Wake Forest’s Webb Simpson holds the individual lead at five-under through two rounds.
Kent Copeland had the top individual round of the entire field on Saturday, as Copeland shot a three-under (69). Copeland fired five birdies on the day, and currently sits in a tie for second place for the tournament at four-under.
A pair of Wolfpack golfers shot an even-par (72) in Saturday’s second round. Darren Blair and Brad Revell each holed five birdies in their rounds, and Blair (seventh place) is one-under for the tournament while Revell is two-over.
Matt Hill notched two birdies in going one-over (73), and he is also at one-over for the tournament in 10th place.
NC State also has a trio of golfers playing as individuals this weekend, two of which shot under par in Saturday’s second round. Wesley Tucker and Chad Day both shot an one-under (71), and Adam Hogue finished at five-over (77). For the tournament, Tucker is one-over and in 10th place, Day is eight-over, and Hogue is 16-over.
