Kollar Runs Fastest Mile Mark Since 1999 for Wolfpack

Chris Kollar hit a provisional mark with a personal-best time of 4:02.76 to lead the Wolfpack at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational as NC State finished competition at two different meets this weekend. Jason Jones and Dexter Adams notched provisional marks in the shot put and long jump, respectively to pace the men's team at the Virginia Tech Elite meet.
Kollar's time was the fifth fastest in the school history and the top Wolfpack time in the event since Brendan Rodgers' 4:02.75 in 1999.
Tibor Vegh finished ninth in the 3,000 meters at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory in New York with a personal-best 8:06.22, making him the seventh fastest performer in school history in the event.
Robert Molodovan was 19th in the 3,000 with an 8:21.06
Jones finished third in the shot put with a career-best throw of 58'04.50, a provisional mark and the ninth farthest throw in school history.
Adams was second in the long jump with a provisional mark of 25'00.00", the second-best mark in the ACC this season.
Eric Davis finished fourth in the high jump with a 6'05.00".
Reggie Reese (21.76), Omar Wells (22.33) and A'Tolani Akinkuotu (22.39) finished 2-3-4 in the 200 meters as each set top times so far in the 2008 season.
NC State will return to action next weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C.at the Carolina Invite.
