Jon Choboy's No. 30 NC State men's tennis team will host a pair of opponents this weekend after a three-match road swing and nearly a month between home contests. The Wolpack will take on the U.S. Naval Academy on Saturday, Mar. 1 at 9 am and Indiana on Sunday, Mar. 2 at 1 pm. Both matches will be played outdoors on the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Outdoor Tennis Stadium at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
NC State comes into the weekend with a 5-3 overall mark, including wins against #28 Wisconsin and #39 Old Dominion. The win against the Badgers was the last home match for the Pack, back on Feb. 2.
Individually, Christian Welte leads the team with a 7-1 singles mark, including a 4-0 slate at No. 5. Welte has teamed with James McGee at No. 2 doubles for a 3-1 record, including a win over the nation's #50 tandem from ODU.
Jay Weinacker is 6-2 in singles, good for second on the team, and improved to 2-0 at No. 2 singles, including a win at that spot against ODU. Weinacker has teamed with Nick Cavaday to post a 4-1 mark at No. 1 doubles and earn a #9 national ranking from the ITA.
McGee has posted a 4-3 record in singles, including a 3-3 mark at No. 1 singles.
Cavaday is 4-3 in singles this season and has played in the top-3 spots in the lineup in each of his matches.
GoPack.com will have LIVE RESULTS for both of the matches, and refreshments and promotions will be in abundance, as well.
