M. Track & Field Travels to Va. Tech and UNC

The NC State track and field team will send split squads to Virginia Tech and North Carolina this weekend. Eleven athletes will compete on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23 in Blacksburg, Va., and 10 will head to Chapel Hill, N.C. on Saturday for the respective meets. Three Wolfpack athletes that are nationally ranked will compete for the red and white this weekend.
Dexter Adams, who is third in the long jump in the ACC, ranks 15th nationally in the event with a distance of 25'00.50".
Also heading to Virginia Tech is A'Tolani Akinkuotu, perhaps the top sprinter in Wolfpack history and he is only a sophomore. Akinkuotu holds the school record in the 60 meter dash with a 6.70 and is the only NC State athlete to break 6.80 in the event, a feat he has accomplished and amazing 14 times. His time of 6.70 ranks 20th nationally and fifth in the ACC.
Jason Jones will lead the contingent to North Carolina. Jones is 18th nationally and leads the ACC with a mark of 58'04.50".
Adams, Akinkuotu and Jones all have notched NCAA provisional marks, as well. Chris Kollar (mile) and Tibor Vegh (5,000m) have also recorded NCAA provisional times this season for the men.
