Diving Squads to Begin Competition at ACC Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men’s and women’s diving teams will compete at the ACC Championships in Atlanta, Ga., Feb. 20-23. State enters the competition with four divers having already qualified for NCAA Zone Championships. Live video streaming of the entire event will be broadcast online via ACC Select.
On Thursday, Feb. 21 prelims will be held in the men’s 3-meter and women’s 1-meter, with finals being held in the men’s 3-meter. Prelims and finals will be held for both the men’s 1-meter and women’s 3-meter on Friday, Feb. 22. Competition will come to a close on Saturday, Feb. 23, with prelims and finals in the platform dive.
Chelsea Ale (3-meter, 1 meter), Kristin Davies (3-meter), Alex Dambly (3-meter, 1-meter) and Austin Hampton (3-meter, 1-meter) have all already hit qualifying marks for the NCAA Zone’s.
Ale posts the fourth-best time in the conference this season for the 1-meter dive with a 303.83, while Davies has offered a season best of 254.78. Ale’s 293.02 in the 3-meter dive is 11th-best in the conference, while Davies’ 283.05 is 14th.
With a 344.10 in the 1-meter dive, Hampton posts the eighth-best mark in the ACC this year. Dambly’s 312.20 stands 14th in the 1-meter, while his 354.22 in the 3-meter is eighth. Hampton’s 342.97 is one spot behind Dambly in the 1-meter.
Hampton is the all-time NC State record holder in the 3-meter dive for both six (366.80 in 2006) and 11 dives (603.00 in 2006).
