Swimming Wraps Up Stay at Husky Invite

FEDERAL WAY, WASH. NC State men’s and women’s swimming wrapped up its stay at the Husky Invitational with the third and final day of action on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Anna Linkenauger swam the second fastest 200 breaststroke on the team this season with a 2:20.10, good for 11th overall. Jen Kopenitz added a 2:03.04 for eighth in the 200 backstroke after offering a 2:01.82 in the prelims. Erica Smith also swam a 2:23.18 in the 200 backstroke prelims, while Kopenitz clocked in with a 54.22 in the 100 freestyle prelims.
On the men's side, Stephen Mellor put up the fastest Wolfpack time on the season with a third place finish of 1:46.32 in the 200 backstroke. In the 1650 freestyle Mason McGee added another top time on the year with a 15:31.83, while Andrew Lester’s 16:05.85 is the third quickest. McGee finished in the fourth place, while Lester took 13th.
Dan Forsythe used a 2:03.28 to swipe seventh in the 200 breaststroke, while Kevin Woodhull-Smith took eighth in the 200 butterfly with a 1:50.55. Earlier in the prelims Woodhull-Smith hit a 1:50.16, the third fastest on the roster this season. McGee, Woodhull-Smith, Mike Seiferth and Lester closed out the evening with a 3:06.62 for fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.
Wolfpack women’s diver Kristin Davies will finish competition at the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, with the platform dive tomorrow, Sunday, Dec. 7. NC State men’s and women’s swimming and diving will return to team competition on Jan. 9 at home against Michigan State at Casey Natatorium.
