Pack Heads to Maryland Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs will return to competition this week at the Maryland Invitational in College Park, Md. Action will be held over the course of three days, beginning on Thursday, Nov. 20 and coming to a close on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The men’s team stands at 4-1 (2-1 ACC), while the women own a 3-3 (1-3 ACC) record.
The Wolfpack men own seven top-10 times and scores among all ACC competitors, with Stephen Mellor standing as the author of three of those marks. Mellor falls third in the 200 back (1:48.52) and 200 IM (1:51.86), while placing eighth in the 100 back (50.43). Andrew Lester is 10th in the 1000 free (9:25.91), while Alex Dambly’s NCAA diving zones qualifying score of 357.95 is fifth in the 3-meter dive. Austin Hampton has qualified for diving zones in both the 3-meter (362.45) and 1-meter (344.15), owning the fourth and fifth best marks respectively in the league.
On the women’s end, Anna Linkenauger and Kristin Davies both own top showings in the conference. Linkenauger’s 4:25.43 in the 400 IM is sixth best in the ACC, while Davies’ 306.15 in the 3-meter dive is seventh best. That score also qualified Davies for the NCAA diving zones. On the season the Pack has 13 first place finishes, including 11 in individual competition.
The Wolfpack swimming and diving teams will be on hiatus from competition following its stay at the Maryland Invitational until resuming action at home on Jan. 9 against Michigan State.
