Weinacker Blasts Into Final Round of Qualifying Singles

TULSA, Okla. - Senior Jay Weinacker earned his 90th career singles win and advanced to the final day of the qualifying singles round at the D'Novo/ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla. Weinacker defeated Gera Boryachinskiy of Clemson, 6-3, 6-3 on Tuesday, Oct. 7. He will face Balazs Novak of Ohio State on Wednesday, Oct. 8, and the winner will advance to the main draw of the tournament.
Weinacker and senior Christian Welte also competed in doubles play at the ITA All-American. The duo won their first match, but fell in the second. Weinacker and Welte took down Mateusz Kecki and Abdullah Magdas of USC, 8-4. The pair fell to Roy Kalmanovich and Marc Spicijaric of Illinois, 8-6, later in the day.
Senior Derek Stephens and freshman Jaime Pulgar played in the doubles round, but fell to Kriegler Brink and Zach Nichols of TCU, 8-1.
