Men's Golfer Blair Takes Title at The Ridges

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. For the second straight tournament this fall season, a NC State men’s golfer earned medalist honors. This weekend it was senior Darren Blair who won his first career tournament when he claimed top honors at the Bank of Tennessee @ The Ridges Tournament.
Blair won convincingly, as he was the only golfer under par for all three rounds, and won by five strokes. Holding the lead entering Sunday’s third round, Blair fired a two-under (70), the third best round of the day, thanks to four birdies. Blair finished the tournament at six-under (210) after shooting rounds of 71-69-70.
As a team, NC State finished in fourth place out of the 14 teams, bettering five ranked opponents this weekend. The Pack tied for the best round of the day at two-over (290) and finished the three round event at 11-over (875). Coastal Carolina took home top honors winning by a stroke, and finishing at five-over (869).
Sophomore Matt Hill added his third straight top-20 finish of the fall season, as Hill tied for 14th place finishing at two-over (218). Hill shot two birdies in the final round, and finished the day at one-over (73).
Junior Brad Revell improved five strokes from yesterday’s second round, and shot a one-over (73). Revell tied for 30th overall at six-over (222).
Also competing for NC State this weekend, sophomore Brandon Detweiler was 11-over (227) and junior Kent Copeland was 15-over (231) for the tournament.
The tournament concludes the fall season, and the Pack will be back in action in late February.
