Grotz, Bleakley Win Consolation Flights at St. Mary's

NC State's Catherine Grotz and Kristen Bleakley each won consolation flights at the St. Mary's Classic in Knoxville, Tenn. and three others advanced to the finals before falling on Sunday.
Grotz won easily, 6-0, 6-1, against Denise Ellison of Notre Dame in Singles Flight Eight.
In Singles Flight Six, Bleakley took down Jo-Ann Van Aerde of Louisville, 6-4, 6-3.
Daria Petrovic is ranked No. 67 in the preseason ITA rankings, and she fell in a tough final match of Singles Flight One. Petrovic fell to North Carolina's Sanaz Marand, the No. 39 ranked player nationally, 6-2, 6-1.
In Singles Flight Four, Lenka Hojckova lost 6-4, 6-1 to Kristen Rafael of Notre Dame in the finals of that bracket.
Berkeley Brock finally played a two set match in the Singles Flight Three final, but unfortunately for the sophomore this time it was in defeat. She fell to Kelly Hyndman, 6-2, 6-5, of Georgia after winning two-straight three-set matches.
Neils Barringer competed in the consolation final of the Singles Flight Two and fell in a tought three-set match. After dropping the first set to Cigdem Duru of Purdue, 6-4, Barringer rallied to win the second in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7). Duru would bounce back to take the match with a 6-1 count in the final set.
Julia Roach won her opening round match before falling in back-to-back matches in Singles Flight Five, including a three-set marathon win against Stephanie Wooten of Purdue, 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.
