GREENSBORO, N.C. NC State extended its winning streak to a season-high seven games with a doubleheader sweep of UNC Greensboro in non-conference softball action Thursday at UNCG Softball Stadium. NC State (31-16) took the two games by scores of 7-1 and 11-1. UNCG falls to 21-27 on the year.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and two strikes on UNCG third baseman Kara Clouser, Sims gave up a solo shot over the centerfield wall, spoiling her attempt at a third no-hitter of the 2007 season. However, the Wolfpack won game one comfortably 7-1.

In the sixth, Gelbard knocked in Sims with a single to left. Two batters later, Jen Chamberlain plated two runs with a single to center.
Miranda Ervin later smashed her third home run of the season, a three-run shot to center in the seventh to make it 7-0 in favor of the Wolfpack.
Chamberlin paced a 10-hit attack for NC State by going 4-for-4 with two RBIs.
Game two was another offensive explosion as the Pack scored in all but two innings for the 11-1 victory. Gelbard went 3-for-3, while Allison Presnell was 3-for-4 with her 12th homer of the year, while Dalthorp added two hits, including her third long ball of the season.
It was 3-1 Wolfpack heading to the sixth inning. In the frame, Dalthorp hit a two-run shot to left centerfield. Three batters later, Gelbard’s double to right scored Ashleigh Davis for a 6-1 advantage.
The scoring did not stop in the seventh as NC State increased its lead to 11-1. Jennifer Patterson’s bases clearing double scored three to highlight a five-run inning.
Shaina Ervin improved her record to 10-10 by pitching four-hit ball over 7.0 innings. She struck our 11 hitters and walked three.
