Track Competes in Three Meets This Weekend

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track and field teams were in action in three different meets this weekend. The Pack sent some sprints to the Charlotte Invite, its distance runners to the Stanford Invite, and its throwers and jumpers to the UNC Invite. The Pack brought home four NCAA Regional qualifying marks from Stanford, and also n the men's shot put and the women's triple jump at UNC.
The Wolfpack would bring home two NCAA Regional qualifying marks at the UNC Invite, as the Pack sent over its throwers and jumpers.
DeMiracle Washington recorded her first NCAA Regional mark of the season, as she won the triple jump with a top mark of 40'09.75". Washington also placed third in the long jump (18'08"). In the high jump, Laila Thomas was third by clearing 5'06", while Kayla Lawson was sixth (5'04.25").
On the men's side, Mitchell Pope continued his strong season in the shot put recording his third NCAA Regional qualifying mark. Pope won the shot put with a top heave of 64'10", only six inches off the 30-year school record. Pope also took fourth in the discus (153'04") and sixth in the hammer (167'06"). Chris Crawford was second in the shot put (54'08.75") and fifth in the hammer (171'03").
Dexter Adams won the long jump with a top mark of 23'09.50", and he was second in the triple jump (46'09.50"). In the high jump, Eric Davis placed third when he cleared 6'04".
At the Charlotte Invite, NC State sent its sprinters. Kevin Hutton won the 400 hurdles with his time of 51.59. Reggie Reese had a strong showing, finishing second in the 200 meters (21.40) and third in the 100 meters (10.65). On the women's sides at Charlotte, Joya Rodgers placed sixth in the 200 meters (25.06) and seventh in the 100 meters (11.92). Cassandra Williams was seventh in the 200 meters in 25.08.
Kristina Roth was the lone women's team member to travle to Stanford. She recorded a NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the 5,000 meters, running the race in 16:29.92.
On the men's side at Stanford, the Pack had a total of three NCAA Regional marks, both runners in the steeplechase and one in the 5,000 meters. Gavin Coombs placed 12th in section one of the steeplechase in 8:56.18, while John Martinez was fifth in section two in 8:58.70. Wesley Smith ran in section one of the 5,000 meters, and finished with a time of 13:51.01 for a 10th place showing. Tibor Vegh also ran in the 5,000 meters and ran a 14:24.02.
At Stanford on Friday night, Bryce Ruiz was fourth in section four of the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:18.95.
