Track Runs at Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track and field teams send a limited number of athletes up to Virginia Tech this weekend to compete in the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet. On the men’s side, NC State had three of the top four finishers in the mile.
Gavin Coombs won the race with his time of 4:06.69. Tibor Vegh was second in 4:09.65, while John Martinez placed fourth (4:09.83).
Oamr Wells brought home a second place finish in the 200 meters, running a 21.65. Reggie Reese was sixth in the 55 meters (6.32), and Kevin Hutton was also sixth in the 400 meters (48.04). In the long jump, Dexter Adams was sixth with a leap of 24’04.25”.
On the women’s side, Joya Rodgers set a new school record in the 55 meters, and Jemissa Hess recorded a NCAA provisional time in the mile.
Rodgers ran a time of 6.93 in the finals of the 55 meters to capture a new school record. Her time was also just 0.01 away from a NCAA provisional time. Hess won the mile with her time of 4:42.72, good enough for a NCAA provisional time. Also in that race, Angelina Blackmon was second (4:50.09), Kristina Roth was fourth (4:58.17) and Jessie Yester was fifth (5:13.43). Cassandra Williams placed sixth in the 200 meters running a 24.86. In the triple jump, DeMiracle Washington had a mark of 40’06.25” for third place.
