Men's Golf Makes 12 Stroke Improvement in Final Round

Raleigh, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team concluded the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate with one of its best rounds of golf of the spring season Tuesday afternoon in Awandaw, S.C. The Wolfpack shot a 3-under par (281) on the day, a 12-stroke improvement from yesterday’s second round. Only three other schools shot a better final round, as the Pack jumped three teams to finish in 11th place at +19 (871) for the tournament.
NC State saw improved play with each round, as the Pack was at +13 on the first day, then shot a +9 on the second, and concluded with a 3-under in the third round.
Seniors Garry Hill and Jerry Richardson had the hot hand for the Pack in the final round, as both finished the final round at 2-under par (69). Hill’s day saw him fire a team-best five birdies, while Richardson had three birdies and only one score above par.
Richardson ended the tournament at 1-over par, tying him for 22nd place.
Chase Duncan also finished the day under-par, as he fired a 70 to finish the third round at one-under. Duncan was another NC State golfer with only had one hole above par. Andrew Byrd had a good day as well, shooting a 2-over par (73), which included three birdies.
NC State will next compete at the Augusta State Invitational March 30-April 1 in Augusta, Ga.
