No. 33 Men's Tennis Heads to Blue Gray Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 33 NC State men's tennis team will travel to Montgomery, Ala., for the 2007 Blue Gray Tennis Classic, Thursday, March 15 through Sunday, March 18. The Wolfpack will take on No. 42 William & Mary in the first round of play on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. (EST). The winner of that match will face the winner of No. 50 Louisville and No. 14 Alabama.
NC State enters the event with a 13-1 record. Nick Cavaday, the Pack's No. 1 singles staple, was tabbed as the ACC Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 13 for the second time this season. Cavaday is currently undefeated at 9-0 in singles play, holding five wins over ranked opponents.
Boasting a 16-team field with each competing program ranked in the Fila / Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic stands as one of the premier annual collegiate tennis events. The 16 programs at this year's event include, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 14 Alabama, No. 16 South Alabama, No. 22 Texas Tech, No. 26 Tulsa, No. 27 Boise State, No. 32 Virginia Commonwealth, No. 33 NC State, No. 34 Middle Tennessee State, No. 38 Texas A&M Corpus Christi, No. 39 Wisconsin, No. 40 Auburn, No. 42 William & Mary, No. 50 Louisville, No. 52 Brown and No. 70 Fresno State.

Next week the Pack will begin ACC play at home with matches against Wake Forest, Virginia and Virginia Tech. State will take on the Demon Deacons on Wednesday, March 21, at 2 p.m., before challenging the Cavaliers on Friday, March 23 at 2 p.m. The Wolfpack will wrap up play for the week against the Hokies on Sunday, March 25, at 1 p.m. All matches will be held at the Curtis @ Jacqueline Dail Outdoor Tennis Stadium on the NC State campus.
