ATHENS, Ga. -This weekend, NC State will send six divers to compete in the NCAA Zone B Championships in Athens, Ga. The meet will run March 2-4 and will be held at the University of Georgia’s Gabrielsen Natatorium.Led by Austin Hampton, who earned All-ACC honors at the ACC Championships, NC State will also be represented on the men’s side by Alex Dambly. Kristin Davies, Emily Cheffins, Chelsea Ale and Natalie Swisher will compete for the women’s squad.
On the men’s side, sophomores Austin Hampton and Alex Dambly will both be continuing seasons that have had great results already. Hampton recently claimed a third place finish in the ACC for the 1-meter boards by posting a season’s best score of 350.90. In November, Hampton scored a 366.80 on the 3-meter boards, setting a new school record and ranking him ninth in the ACC.
Dambly, who is also expected to be a standout diver at Zones, is currently ranked 14th in the ACC standings for the 3-meter boards with his personal best score of 339.98.
The lady Wolfpack divers hope to continue their successful seasons as well. Kristin Davies did not begin her competition eligibility until January and placed third in platform diving at the ACC Championships last week.
Emily Cheffins will also make an impact after posting top scores for the Wolfpack in both the 1-meter and the 3-meter boards earlier this season.
Natalie Swisher and Chelsea Ale will also be competing this weekend for NC State. Swisher has earned personal best scores in both boards already this season and Ale currently has the second highest scores for the school this year in the 1-meter and the 3-meter.
