Men's Golf Completes First Round at Puerto Rico

Raleigh, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team started its spring season this weekend, as the Wolfpack concluded first round action at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, on Sunday afternoon. NC State currently sits in 15th place, notching a team score of 9-over par (297).
Sophomore Darren Blair was the Pack’s top performer in today’s first round of action. Blair shot and even par 72, with four birdies including three straight on holes No. 10, 11, and 12.
Senior Jerry Richardson was close behind, as he finished with a one-over par 73. Richardson finished the day with three birdies.
Sophomore Andrew Byrd finished with a team-high five birdies, and finished with a 75 (+3). Senior Garry Hill shot a 77 (+5), as he had three birdies including two on par-three holes. Sophomore Wesley Tucker rounded out the Pack’s scoring, going for par on 13 of the 18 holes and shooting a 79 (+7).
The Pack will continue with the second round on Monday, and the final round on Tuesday.
