Swimming & Diving to Open Season on Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State men’s swimming and diving team will open the 2007-08 season this Saturday, Oct. 20, in Greenville, N.C., against East Carolina and William & Mary. Action is slated to begin at 12 noon. The Pirates enter the meet at 1-0 on the young season after topping Davidson, while the Tribe stands at 1-0 following a win over Towson.
Austin Hampton and Stephen Mellor return to the fold following All-ACC campaigns a year ago, while seven freshmen enter the mix. State will count on its mix of experienced upperclassmen and talented youngsters to improve upon last season’s eighth-place conference finish.
Following this Saturday’s action, the Pack will return to the pool next Friday, Oct. 26, with its first home meet. State will take on Duke and Campbell at the Casey Aquatics Center at 5 p.m.
