Cavaday Selected ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Raleigh, N.C. – After helping the 37th-ranked NC State Wolfpack open the 2007 campaign with a 3-0 record last Saturday, Nick Cavaday has been named the season’s first Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. Ranked at No. 99 in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the junior clinched victories in the top flight at both singles and doubles as the Pack defeated High Point (6-1), Gardner-Webb (6-1) and The Citadel (8-0).
In singles action, Cavaday dropped Jack Notton of High Point by 6-2, 6-3 scores and later in the day notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over The Citadel’s Daniel Dosser. Cavaday, who hails from Chilsehurst in London, England, also paired with Ben Zink in doubles action against The Citadel, blanking the 20th-ranked doubles duo of Dosser and James Eason, 8-0.
Cavaday also doubled up with Zink against High Point, defeating Notton and Benjamin Deloume by an 8-6 count.
NC State will continue its 12-match home stand this weekend, welcoming both UNC Wilmington and Winthrop on Sunday, January 28. The Pack hits the court at 10 a.m. against the Seahawks and then faces the Eagles at 2:30 p.m.
