No. 32 Wolfpack Women's Tennis Blanks UNCW, 7-0

The Wolfpack Women's Tennis team rolled to its second victory of the young season with a 7-0 win over UNC Wilmington Sunday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Wolfpack (2-0) quickly jumped to a 1-0 lead with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles and never looked back. In singles, the Wolfpack dropped just 14 games in 12 sets of action, winning in straight sets in each of the six matches.
"It was a good start for us because we showcased our depth with all 11 girls getting action," head coach Hans Olsen said. "The team showed a certain toughness that is great to see this early in the season."
Alejandra Guerra and Daria Petrovic, the No. 15 doubles tandem in the region, easily won at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 triumph over Molony/Roberts from UNCW.
Kate Green and Julia Roach them teamed up to top Martin/Carlson at No. 3 doubles by a 8-1 score as the Wolfpack took the doubles point.
Catherine Grotz and Berkley Brock rallied from 5-2 and 7-3 down before falling, 9-7, at number two doubles.
Singles play got off to a quick start as No. 43 Daria Petrovic dispatched of Molly Molony at No. 1 singles in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.
Brock had similar success at No. 2 singles, beting Kayla Schwenk 6-2, 6-1 to give the Wolfpack a 3-0 lead.
Grotz would provide the clinching win, taking her match easily at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0, over Priscilla Roberts.
Julia Roach made it 5-0, NC State, with a win at No. 4 singles over Cassie Martin, 6-1, 6-2.
Niels Barringer downed Lauren Isenhour at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Kate Green won as well, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6.
During the break between doubles and singles, two competitors from the Smash Bash played a mixed doubles competition with Allison and Lauren Barry. Josh Broadway and Josh were both named Most Valuable Fans (MVF) and kept the atmosphere rocking at the Andy Andrews Indoor Tennis Facility for the Wolfpack.
The Wolfpack return to the courts for their next home match on Feb. 2 at 4:00 pm as they host Penn State.
