Swimming and Diving Signs Six in 2007 Class

Raleigh, N.C. -- NC State swimming and diving coach Brooks Teal has announced the signing of six student-athletes for the 2007 class.
The women’s class consisted of four swimmers and the men’s class has two swimmers. The four women are Jennifer Kopenitz, Nancy Radloff, Ashley Richter and Jessica Ward. The men’s signees were Dan Forsythe and Mike Seiferth.
“We are very happy with the group of swimmers that we signed,” Teal said. “We feel that these swimmers can come in and compete immediately and give us depth.”
The women’s class includes Jessica Ward from Pickering, Ontario, Canada. She is the No. 1 breaststroker in Ontario in the 100 and 200. She is No. 55 in the 200 breaststroke in the world. She will also compete in the 200 individual medley as well as the 400 individual medley. She is also a contender for a spot on the 2008 Olympic Team.
Jennifer Kopenitz, from Limerick, Penn., comes to NC State from the world-renowned Germantown Academy. She is an US Open qualifier in the 200 back and 400 IM and achieved a nationally-ranked time in the 200 backstroke in 2005.
Ashley Richter, who hails from Cypress, Texas, will make an immediate impact in the sprint freestyle and fly events for the Wolfpack. She is an All-American in the 50 and 100 freestyles and is a Spring National, Junior National, and US Open qualifier in the sprint freestyle events as well.
Nancy Radloff, from Hilton Head, S.C., will bring the potential to develop into one of the best sprinters in the ACC. She had a breakout summer in 2006 as she qualified for the South Carolina Zone team in the 50 and 100 free.
Although the men’s team signed only two swimmers, they will bring a wealth of experience and talent to the team. Dan Forsythe, of Brentwood, Tenn., will swim the 100 and 200 breaststroke for the Wolfpack. He was a 2006 state champion in the 100 breaststroke as well as an 18 and under Senior National Qualifier, a Junior National qualifier and an US Open qualifier in both breaststroke events.
Mike Seiferth, from Allison Park, Penn., will have an immediate impact on the butterfly events and the 100 backstroke. He was a 2006 Pennsylvania State Champion in the 100 butterfly. He was a Junior National qualifier and High School All-American in both the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke.
