Men's Golf Sits in Seventh After Two Rounds

Raleigh, N.C. – Playing in the second tournament of the year, the NC State men’s golf team currently sits in seventh place after playing two rounds on Monday in the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala. The Wolfpack fired a 296 in the first round, then followed that with a 295 later in the day to finish the day at 15-over par. NC State sits just six strokes out of second place overall, as Alabama has a nine stroke lead over the 15 team field.
Senior Jerry Richardson was the top finisher on the day for NC State, as he is currently in fourth place just two strokes off the lead. Richardson shot a three-over par 73 during the first round, but came back later in the day to shoot a 2-under par 70. Richardson is currently at one-under par.
Andrew Byrd was just four strokes behind Richardson, firing scores of 74 and then 73 to finish at 3-over par for the day.
Sophomore Nathan Spoon and freshman Adam Hogue each fired a 7-over par on the day. Each shot a 75 in the first round, and a 76 in the second.
Darren Blair rounded out the scoring for NC State, shooting a 158 on the day. Blair’s first round score was a 2-over par 74, but then he shot an 84 in the second round.
NC State will resume action tomorrow, playing in the final round.
