Noblitt Advances to Finals at UVa Fall Invite

Charlottesville, Va. - William Noblitt grabbed two singles wins on Saturday, Sept. 16, to advance to the Red flight singles championship at the UVa Fall Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. Noblitt will face Petr Olsak of Virginia Commonwealth in tomorrow’s finals. Aside from Noblitt, Nick Cavaday and James McGee each picked up victories, with McGee collecting two in consolation play.
In the Blue singles quarterfinals, Cavaday trumped Duke’s David Goulet, 6-2, 6-4. Cavaday then fell in the quarterfinals to Somdev Devvarman of Virginia, 7-6, 6-2.
Noblitt defeated Alabama’s Billy Mertz, 6-4, 6-2, in the Red flight quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Noblitt topped Louisville’s Horatiu Oltean, 6-3, 6-1.
Playing in the Green singles consolation quarterfinals, McGee knocked off Benedict Fischer of Memphis, 6-3, 6-2. In the semifinals, McGee then beat Alabama’s Mathieu Thibaudeau, 6-0, 6-3.
Play will continue tomorrow at the third and final day of the UVa Fall Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.
