Raleigh, N.C. - Nick Cavaday of the NC State men's tennis team is listed at No. 39 nationally in men's collegiate singles play according to the preseason Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Friday, Sept. 8. A junior from Chislehurst, London, England, Cavaday is no stranger to the national rankings, having spent the majority of his tenure with the red and white listed in the national polls.
Cavaday finished last season ranked No. 63 in singles by the ITA after posting a 12-14 record, playing all but one match at the No. 1 singles spot for the Wolfpack. All of Cavaday's wins came in straight-sets. Throughout the season he downed three ranked opponents, including No. 48 Bruno Agostinelli (Kentucky), No. 63 Dan Hanegby (Brown) and No. 93 Nickolai Nielsen (Maryland). Additionally, Cavaday collected two ACC matches over Soma Kesthely (Boston College) and No. 93 Nielsen, while amassing a 13-9 doubles record alongside two partners. Last fall, Cavaday went 7-3 in singles and 3-2 in doubles.
The NC State men's tennis team will host the annual Residence Inn North Wolfpack Invitational this weekend, Sept. 15-17, at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on the NC State campus.
