Lucas Advances to NCAA Championships

Raleigh, N.C. - Day one of the NCAA East Regional Championships went well for the NC State track team on Friday night, as the Wolfpack advanced one runner to the NCAA Championships and two more runners into the finals tomorrow in their events. Julia Lucas will return to the NCAA Championships in the 5,000 meters, as she place third Friday night at regionals with a time of 16:02.01. With her top-five finish, Lucas advances to the NCAA Championships in the 5,000 meters.
The women's team also had two runners advance to the finals in their respective races tomorrow. Ebony Foster placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles (13.38) and Jemissa Hess was eighth in the 1,5000 meters (4:26.03), and both will run in the finals of those events tomorrow. Angelina Blackmon placed 11th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.59, and just missed qualifying for finals tomorrow.
On the men's side today, Reggie Reese had the Pack's top finish, as he placed 14th in the 100 meters with a time of 10.58. Kevin Hutton took 25th in the 400 meter hurdles with his time of 53.76.
The Wolfpack will be back in action tomorrow. In addition to Foster and Hess running in the finals of their events, both the men's and women's steeplechases will be run, Gavin Coombs and John Henderson are in the men's race, and Kristina Roth will run for the women's team. Also in action will be Chris Crawford and Mitchell Pope in the men's shot put.
