Sims, Ervin, Chamberlin Named All-ACC in Softball
No. 23/22 Wolfpack Softball No. 1 Seed at ACC Championship
Wolfpack head softball coach Lisa Navas was named 2006 ACC Softball Coach of the Year after leading her squad to a 44-18 record and the ACC regular season title with a 14-6 mark in conference. In just its third year as a program, Navas has built the Wolfpack team into a conference contender, improving on its ACC record and overall record each season. The team won 32 games overall and three in conference in 2004, 41 games overall and seven in conference last year, and set school records with 44 wins overall and 14 in conference this season.
Navas was hired in 2003, as she got to work recruiting and securing a staff to start this program the following season. The team played its first game on Feb. 13, 2004 and won its first game ever the next day. That day was Valentine's Day, and what a love affair it has been ever since.
Navas will lead her Wolfpack team into the postseason, which starts Thursday, May 11 in Chapel Hill, N.C. as the ACC Championship gets underway and runs through Sunday.
