Men's Golf Hosts Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate

NC State plays host to the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate Friday, April 7 thru Saturday, April 8 at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, N.C. The 14-team, 54-hole men's golf tournament is scheduled for two rounds Friday followed by a final round of 18 holes Saturday morning over MacGregor Downs' 6,787 yard, par-72 Willard Byrd layout.
A practice round by the college teams and a sold-out College-Am tournament is set for Thursday, April 6. Viewing of all three days of the tournament, including the practice round Thursday morning, is open to the public at no charge. Live scoring will be available online at www.golfstat.com.
No. 14-ranked Tulsa, No. 18 and twice defending champion Duke and No. 19 North Carolina lead the field. Other men's college teams entered include No. 27 Kentucky, No. 32 NC State, No. 37 Kent State, No. 43 Houston, No. 71 Virginia Tech, No. 65 Georgia Southern, No. 66 Virginia, No. 74 Vanderbilt, No. 106 Rice, No. 109 Kansas and No. 134 UNC-Wilmington.
Individually, local players Ryan Blaum and Jake Grodzinsky of Duke, Martin Ureta of North Carolina and Stephen Lewton of NC State headline the field and are all currently ranked in the nation's top 25 according to GolfWeek magazine. Luke List of Vanderbilt, who competed in the 2005 Masters and Edward McGlasson of Colorado are also ranked in the top 35 individually.
