Spoon Six Under In Rain-Delayed Second Round

NEW LONDON, N.C. - Downpours, thunderstorms and lightning caused play to be suspended midway through the second round of the ACC Men's Golf Championship on Saturday. Play was first halted at 9:10 a.m., shortly after players began teeing off at 8:30 a.m. Play resumed at 12:30 p.m. only to be stopped again 5:10 p.m. Through 11 holes Nathan Spoon is three under on the day and unofficially tied for second place at six under through 29 holes, leading NC State. The Wolfpack is unofficially in sixth place at three under.
Darren Blair and Jerry Richardson are even par through 12 and 13 holes respectively of the second round. Blair is unofficially tied for 17th place at one under through 30 holes and Richardson is unofficially tied for 28th place at one over through 31 holes. Stephen Lewton is four over through 12 holes of the second round and is unofficially tied for 36th place at three over through 30 holes. Garry Hill is five over through 14 holes of the second round.
Second-round play will resume Sunday at 10:00 a.m. The final round will begin simultaneously off the first tee.
Only two teams completed their second rounds, Boston College and Virginia. Clemson charged into the lead before play was halted. The Tigers are unofficially 20-under-par, 17-under in the second round, with six to nine holes left to play. David May from Clemson is unofficially in first place at seven under through 30 holes.
